Washer calls are a large share of our in-home laundry work. Front-load machines in Toronto condos and top-load units in houses both fail in familiar ways: pumps, door locks, shift actuators, and worn bearings. We do not treat every error code as a new control board. Samsung 4C and 5C, LG OE and UE, and Whirlpool F-codes usually point to a drain, an imbalance, or a lock — not a machine that has to be replaced. We run the diagnostic cycle, check the filter and hose, and quote the failed part.

Common problems we see
Will not drain — standing water in the drum
A clogged pump filter, a failed drain pump, or a kinked standpipe hose leaves a tub full of dirty water. Coins, hairpins, and sock lint kill pumps. We empty the drum safely, pull the filter, and replace the pump on the visit when the part is on the truck. We also check the building drain so we are not blaming the washer for a blocked stack.
Door will not unlock or the cycle will not start
Front-load door locks fail often, especially on Samsung and LG. The machine may finish the wash and then hold the door shut, or it may refuse to start and show a lock code. We test the lock, the latch, and the board output. A lock is usually a same-day swap. We only force the door open if you ask us to after you approve.
Loud grinding or walking across the floor in spin
Grinding that gets worse in high spin is usually tub bearings or a failed spider on a front-load. A top-load that walks is often a broken suspension rod or an unbalanced load sensor. Bearing jobs are labour-heavy. We quote that honestly and will recommend replacement if the tub or the outer shell is not worth the hours.
Leaks at the door, the pump, or the inlet
Door-boot mould and tears on front-loads drip onto the floor. Pump housings crack. Inlet valves weep behind the machine and rot the subfloor. We find the wet path, replace the boot or valve, and check the levelling feet so the door gasket seats again.
Stacked condo laundry closets
North York and downtown stacks leave almost no room to pull a washer. We work in the closet, protect the hallway, and follow the building’s quiet hours and elevator booking. Tell us the stack brand and whether the dryer sits on a kit so we bring the right tools.
What to expect on the visit
Photograph the model sticker inside the door and any error code on the display. If the drum is full of water, say so — we bring a way to drain it. Condo bookings need the loading-dock window and a parking note.
The technician tests fill, drain, spin, and the lock before quoting. If the pump or lock is on the truck, the machine often runs a test cycle before we leave. If bearings or a board have to be ordered, you get the price and the return date first.
