Washer not draining
Is your washer sitting full of water at the end of a cycle? A tub that will not empty is a floor problem first. Many homeowners in Toronto and the GTA notice it when the laundry room is already damp.
Front-loaders hide a pump filter. Houses hide a slow standpipe. We check the machine and the drain so we are not blaming your washer for a building stack. There are a few safe checks you can do before you call.
What you can check at home
On a front-loader, open the pump-filter door at the bottom front, with towels down. Coins, lint, and small socks stop a healthy pump more often than people expect. Check the drain hose behind the box for a kink. Do not keep running drain cycles into a puddle.
Unplug the washer if water is already escaping. Shut the taps if you can reach them. A little standing water in the tub is messy. Water near the motor is a reason to stop.
What we test on the visit
We listen to the pump, measure whether water is actually leaving, and check the standpipe. A pump can sound fine and still leave a puddle if the house drain is slow. That is a different quote than a new pump, and you hear which one it is before we start.
A washer that will not drain also will not spin. Those two symptoms often travel together. Many drain-pump jobs finish the same day when the part is on the truck. Diagnosis is applied if we complete the repair.
When to call us
A burning smell, a pump that screams, or water spreading across the floor is a stop. If you have already cleaned the filter and the hose still will not move water, we are happy to take a look.
Call 416-800-9206 in Toronto or 905-963-0067 in York, Peel, or Durham. Tell us if the laundry is in a condo closet or a basement so we can plan the visit.
