Cooktop repair in Toronto

If a cooktop zone will not heat, or the glass is cracked, there are a few things to consider before you replace the whole surface. Built-in cooktops usually fail at the igniter, element, touch control, or glass. We repair gas, electric radiant, and induction cooktops from Bosch, Wolf, GE, Samsung, and KitchenAid, and we take care around your counter.

How we can help

A cooktop is the built-in surface in the counter — not the full range. We service gas, radiant electric, and induction in your kitchen. Call 416-800-9206, 905-963-0067, or 705-999-8533. Same-day when you call during 8am–11pm weekdays or 8am–10pm weekends.

Induction faults are often a generator board or a pan-detection sensor, not a kitchen that has to be replaced. Gas cooktops fail at the igniter and the spark module the same way a range does, but the unit sits in a cutout, so we protect the stone or the laminate when we lift it. Touch controls that stop working after a spill are usually a board quote, not a new countertop.

Diagnosis is applied to the repair when we complete the job. Completed work includes a 3-month service warranty.

Common problems we see

Induction zone will not detect the pan

The display may flash a pan symbol or stay cold. Wrong cookware is the first check — if a magnet does not stick, the zone will not heat. When the cookware is correct, we test the coil and the generator board. Boards are quoted before we order, based on the test, not the blink alone.

Gas cooktop clicks and will not light

Spill-over shorts the igniter. Caps sit crooked after cleaning. We clean and reseat first, then test the igniter and the module. A cooktop in an island often has a longer spark lead; we check that harness before we sell a module.

Touch controls dead or locked after a boil-over

Moisture under the glass or a failed interface board will lock the surface or ignore every tap. We dry what we can, test the board, and quote the interface. If the glass is also cracked, that changes the math — see below.

Cracked or shattered ceramic glass

A hairline crack can sometimes be lived with for a short time on a radiant top if the element still works and you keep liquids out of it. A shattered or lifting glass is usually a replace, not something we can glue. Glass on an older cooktop often costs enough that a new unit is the better quote. We assess on site and will only promise a glass we can actually get.

One radiant zone overheats or will not cycle off

Limiters and infinite switches fail. A zone that stays cherry-red after you cancel is a safety repair. We shut the breaker, replace the switch or limiter, and test that the zone drops out.

What to expect on the visit

Tell us gas, electric, or induction, and the brand. A photo of the underside model sticker — if you can see it in the cabinet — helps. Island cooktops need clear cabinet access below.

We shut power or gas, test the failed zone, and lift the cooktop only as far as the job needs. Stone counters get padded. You approve the board or igniter price before we order.

Cost and when to repair or replace

Igniters, elements, and many control modules are repairable for less than a new cooktop. Diagnosis is credited on a completed repair. Induction generator boards and glass are the expensive items and are quoted from the actual part.

A shattered glass cooktop on an older unit is often a replace. We will help you decide if a new glass still makes sense, or if a new surface is the better spend.

Brands we service

Bosch, Wolf, GE, Samsung, KitchenAid, Miele, and Thermador cooktops are regular work. Induction and gas are both in the book.

If the cooktop is part of a slide-in range, the stove page is the better start. Gas odours go to the gas appliance page as a priority.
