Apart from calling us, which we always recommend, we’ve assembled a list of the most frequently asked questions we receive for your benefit. We offer free service call & diagnosis when we fix your appliance (Our service calls & diagnosis cost $60). As per repairs; it is the most common question we are asked, for which there is never a specific answer. Depending on the size and extent of the repair job, you will be looking at a range of prices. If you give us a call or email us and describe the problem we can give you a more accurate estimate. The most accurate estimate you will receive is post-inspection, once we have diagnosed the issue and provided you with a summary of what can be done to fix it. As a company, we aim to keep our rates competitive for the benefit of our customers. We guarantee no hidden fees or costs once the initial quote has been provided.
In general, our technicians will never push you to repair an appliance after it’s past it’s prime. Each and every appliance has a lifespan, and maintenance past this age will take longer, cost more and be more difficult. If your appliance is failing every few months consider a replacement instead of a repair. Our technicians will gladly assist you in determining which option is more cost-effective.
Even new appliances are sometimes prone to failure. However, often appliances such as washers or dryers simply come unplugged from their power source over time as a result of shaking or vibration. Before you try anything, check your power cord and re-set buttons. You’d be surprised at how many issues we’ve resolved which simply involved plugging an appliance back in.
Always contact your manufacturer, as they may be able to repair your appliance for free if it is still covered by your original warranty. For example, Miele appliances are generally covered for up to 2 years by a manufacturer warranty.
While you may wish to check the manufacturer warranty for their statement on outside repairs, our warranty covers 3 month for the repairs provided after service. Contact us for an individual summary or quote.
It’s a good idea to check with your local utility company before you dump it on the curb, as they may offer a rebate or tax deduction when recycling old appliances. Contact your local disposal collection service or utility company for further information. Appliance Handyman will recycle your old appliance free of charge, if installing a new one.
The number one cause of shaking dryer and washers is too large of a load. Reduce your load size. If this doesn’t reduce shaking contact us for further solutions.
There can be a number of reasons for smells. Sometimes a washer or dryer gets clogged, resulting in an unpleasant odour. You may be leaving clothes inside too long, resulting in a mildew smell. If your fridge is smelly, it may be a temperature issue or a problem with uneven cold distribution. There are a number of reasons, which we can easily help you with.
