Stove burner not working
Has one burner gone cold while the rest of the stove still works? Dinner should not depend on a single element. Many homeowners in Toronto keep cooking on the remaining burners and hope the dead one comes back. That usually does not happen on its own.
A single dead burner is usually a switch, an element, or an igniter — not a new range. We test each burner in your kitchen and quote the failed part so you can make the right choice for your home.
Electric coil and glass-top ranges
If you have coil elements, you can swap a coil to a working socket if you can do it safely. That tells you whether the element or the switch failed. On a glass-top, do not cook on a cracked surface. A dead zone can be the element or the infinite switch, and we meter both.
Keep in mind that a cracked cooktop is usually a replacement conversation, because a patch is not a safe repair.
Gas that clicks and never lights
Clicking without flame is often the igniter or the spark module. Keep the area ventilated if you smell gas, and say so when you call. We test ignition before anyone talks about replacing the range.
Common igniter jobs often finish on that visit when the part is on the truck. You should not cook on one working burner and hope the rest come back.
When we say replace
A cracked glass top, several dead burners plus a weak oven, or a 15-year-old range that needs a discontinued control. One burner is almost always a repair. You get that distinction in the kitchen.
