LG dishwasher error codes
LG dishwashers report drain, motor, heat, and fill faults as two-letter codes. Most OE and IE codes we see in the GTA are installation or filter problems. LE, HE, and tE more often need a part. Match the code below, try the safe reset, then book if it repeats.
| Code | Meaning | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| OE | Drain problem | Food in the filter, a high loop that is missing, or a jammed drain pump. The machine thinks water is not leaving. | Run Cancel & Drain. Clean the filter. If OE returns, the pump or drain hose needs a technician. |
| LE / CE | Motor / locked rotor | The wash motor cannot turn — debris, a failed motor, or a control glitch after a power blip. | Power off, unplug 10 seconds, restore power, and start a new cycle. If LE returns, the motor or inverter needs diagnosis. |
| HE | Heater fault | Water is not heating, or it overheated. Open heater, bad thermistor, or a control that is not driving the element. | Same 10-second power reset to clear a false HE. If dishes stay cold or HE repeats, the heater circuit is tested on site. |
| FE | Excess water / overflow | The tub overfilled and the drain pump ran as protection. Inlet valve stuck open, or a failed level sensor. | Power reset once. If FE returns, shut the water supply and book service — a stuck valve will flood. |
| E1 | Leak | Install error, wrong detergent, or a drain hose end below the tub that siphons and leaks. | The drain hose outlet must sit above the base (about 10 inches). Replace a cracked hose. Do not keep running an E1. |
| PF | Power failure | The unit saw a power cut and locked the cycle. | Hold any control button about 10 seconds after power is stable, then restart the cycle. |
| tE | Thermal error | Water above about 194°F, or a failed thermistor. | A new thermistor is the usual repair. Stop the cycle; overheating is not a reset-and-ignore code. |
| IE / 1E | Fill / low water | After 10 minutes the tub did not fill. Closed valve, kinked supply, or a failed inlet valve. | Confirm the supply valve is open and the line is not kinked. Test flow into a bucket. Replace the inlet valve if flow is good and IE remains. |
