Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes

Knowing what certain dishwasher error codes mean can help you troubleshoot some of Bosch dishwasher problems that may come up.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E24

Meaning – Drain error

Reasons for error code:

This error code indicates that your Bosch dishwasher is not draining. Either the drain is clogged or it is bent, restricting the passage of water.

How to solve:

Clean the drain hose or straighten it if it is bent.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E15

Meaning – Flooding

Reasons for the error code:

The presence of Bosch dishwasher error code e15 after installation means the leak protection is triggered on the dishwasher. This function is there to stop water from flooding the appliance. Whenever this is activated, it means that water has entered the machine tray. This turns off the dishwasher.

The error is caused by either the leakage sensor being defective, blockage of the draining system, worn out nozzles or a defect in the water sprinkler.

How to solve:

Disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply and tilt it at a 45-degree angle. This helps release the anti-flood switch and also drains the water from the dishwasher. You will need to wait until the dishwasher is completely dry, which typically takes one day. Doing this should rectify the problem and if it doesn’t, then a bigger problem exists.

Bosch dishwasher error code e22

Meaning – Clogged or littered filters

Reasons for the error code:

This error means that there are food remnants stuck in the filters and preventing normal water drainage.

How to solve:

Turn off your dishwasher and shut off the water supply. Next, remove the basket and cutlery trays. Also remove the sprinkler at the bottom. Then, reach in for the dustbin and unscrew it. Clean it to remove any food particles that may be lodged in it. Also check for blockages in the nozzle.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E25

Meaning – Drain pump issue or drain pipe blockage

Reasons for the error:

This is often caused by foreign objects becoming lodged in the pump. This could be bones, peels from fruits/vegetables or pieces of napkins.

How to solve:

Check the filter inside the dishwasher and the pump impeller. Disconnect the hose from the dishwasher and drain out any remaining water if the error occurred during a cycle. Access the drain filter, unscrew it along with the metal mesh and rinse both under running water.
Then check the impeller of the drain pump which is located behind the filter. Use your fingers to feel for any foreign objects and try to maneuver the impeller. If it doesn’t move by simply manipulating it with your fingers, something is blocking it.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E01

Meaning – Control panel issue

Reasons for error code:

This means that the control panel is not functioning properly. However, this doesn’t mean that a new board is necessary.

How to solve:

The first step is to look at the electricity supply and make sure that the wires are connected to the panel properly. A faulty control board will interfere with the dishwasher’s ability to function.
You will need to hire a technician to check the microchips. Oftentimes, the problem may be with just one or two chips that are not working properly and prevent the entire control panel from functioning. It’s far less costly to repair the board than to buy a new one.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E21

Meaning – Pump error

Reasons for error code:

This error stops the cycle immediately, which can be very frustrating because it leaves unclean dishes and dirty water that cannot drain. This is caused by a hard clog within the pump. This could also mean that the impeller of the pump is damaged.

How to solve:

The best place to start is by checking for blockages in the area near the pump. This requires the dishwasher to be disassembled. Cleaning out the dustbin and then restarting the dishwasher could solve the problem. Sometimes water running through the dustbin can clear a hard clog further inside the dishwasher. Remove the pump and inspect it for any dirt. Then check how the impeller rotates on the pump.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code H01 (or H02)

Meaning – Start-up timer

Reasons for error code:

This is actually not an error code. This indicates that you have accessed the start-up timer menu which allows you to delay the start of the cycle. H01 means it’ll be delayed by 1 hour; h02, 2 hours.

How to solve:

To delete timer programming, press the [4] + or – button until h:00 is displayed on the digital display.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E09

Meaning – Heating element is burnt

Reasons for error code:

This is considered to be a significant problem that needs immediate attention. This can mean there is either water in the heater, the drainage filter is clogged or hard water has created a scale on the heating element.

How to solve:

The heating element will need to be replaced.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E17

Meaning – High water pressure

Reasons for error code:

If the water pressure range is not within 0.03 to 1 MPa your dishwasher will not function and instead give you this error code.

How to solve:

By slightly closing the supply valve, you can solve this issue relatively easy. If you find that your dishwasher frequently has high pressure, you will need to install additional devices to lower the water pressure in the dishwasher.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E23

Meaning – Drainage issue

Reasons for error code:

This error code will show up if your dishwasher is unable to discard used water. This could also be the result of the control board malfunctioning. And if it is due to a faulty board, diagnosing the problem may be hard to do because the dishwasher may not actually show the correct error message.

How to solve:

Disconnect the dishwasher from the water and power supply and tilt it to the right side. This may cause some leakage. If a lot of water comes out then that’s an indication that one of the hoses or nozzles is not functioning properly and is responsible for the leak.
