Bosch dishwasher error codes

Bosch dishwashers in Toronto condos and houses throw the same handful of codes we see every week. This table is the technician version: what the code means, why it appears, and what actually clears it. If the code returns after a reset, book same-day dishwasher repair — a bent drain hose or a failed pump will not fix itself.

CodeMeaningCauseWhat to do
E24Drain errorThe dishwasher is not draining. The drain hose is clogged or bent, or the air gap / disposal connection is blocked.Straighten and clear the drain hose. Clean the filter. If water still sits in the tub, the drain pump needs service.
E15Flood / leak protectionWater reached the base tray and tripped AquaStop. Causes include a leak sensor, worn hoses, or a sprinkler fault — common after a DIY install.Unplug the unit. Tilt it about 45° to drain the base and dry the tray. If E15 returns, do not keep running it; the leak is still active.
E22Clogged filtersFood debris in the filter stack is blocking drainage.Kill power and water. Remove the lower rack and spray arm, unscrew the filter, and rinse it. Check the sump for bones or glass.
E25Drain pump or pipe blockageForeign objects (bones, fruit peels, napkin pieces) jammed in the pump impeller.Remove the filter and mesh. Feel the impeller behind it. If it will not spin freely, the pump needs to be cleared or replaced.
E01Control panel faultThe control is not communicating. Often a connection or a failed chip on the board — not always a full board replacement.Confirm the unit has solid power. A technician tests the board; repairing a module is usually cheaper than a new dishwasher.
E21Pump errorHard clog in the pump or a damaged impeller. The cycle stops with dirty water in the tub.Clear the sump and inspect the pump. If the impeller is broken, replace the pump — resetting will not hold.
H01 / H02Delay start (not a fault)You opened the delay-start timer. H01 is a 1-hour delay; H02 is 2 hours.Press the +/− delay buttons until h:00 shows, then start a normal cycle.
E09Heating element failedThe heater is open, scaled, or the drain path is so clogged the element sits wet and overheats. The heating element is replaced. Cleaning the filter first still matters so the new heater is not sitting in standing water.
E17High water pressureSupply pressure is outside the 0.03–1 MPa range Bosch expects.Partially close the supply valve. If pressure is always high, a regulator on the line is the lasting fix.
E23Drainage / board issueUsed water will not leave the tub, or the board is reporting the wrong code because it has failed.Disconnect water and power. If a large volume dumps from a hose when the unit is tilted, a hose or nozzle is leaking and needs parts.
